ModelCost is designed to track API cost and usage metadata only. We do not collect, store, or have access to the content of your AI prompts, completions, or any end-user data processed by the AI models you use. Our SDKs transmit only metadata such as model identifiers, token counts, latency measurements, and cost calculations.

When governance features are enabled, the ModelCost SDK performs PII and sensitive data scanning entirely within your environment. Only anonymized metadata signals (violation type, severity, and action taken) are transmitted to our servers. Prompt and completion text is never sent to ModelCost. Organizations on our Scale plan can optionally enable ephemeral snippet storage with configurable auto-expiry (1 to 90 days) for forensic review.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who assist in operating our platform (e.g., Stripe for payments, AWS for hosting)
• Professional advisors such as lawyers and accountants as needed
• Law enforcement or government agencies when required by law
• Other parties in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. API tokens are stored as cryptographic hashes and cannot be retrieved after creation. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage data is retained according to your plan's data retention period (30 to 90 days). You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
